Best Overall Beach: Point Pleasant Beach
When it comes to a beautiful stretch of sand and ample activities for the whole family, Point Pleasant Beach takes the cake for best overall beach. You take Jenkinson's Boardwalk with its eateries, rides and activities, plus the golden sand on the beach and you've got one of the best beaches in New Jersey.
Best Family Beach: Bay Head
Bay Head is the last stop on the train and offers a beautiful expanse of sand and sea. The beach has lifeguards, plus all the amenities a family could want like changerooms and restaurants. Bay Head is not as crowded as Point Pleasant Beach. Just make sure you bring the sunscreen!
Best Private Beach: Mantoloking
It may not have all the amenities, but most of the sand in gorgeous Mantoloking is owned by the area's homeowners. There are no changerooms or food kiosks, but there is ample peace and quiet if you're looking for a beach to just lay back and recharge your batteries. In addition, there are no dogs allowed from June 15-Sept. 15.
Best Surfing Beaches: Bay Head & Point Pleasant Beach
When it comes to summer surf, look no further than Bay Head or Point Pleasant Beach. You'll find some good summertime swells off these beaches. Generally, the best surf is in fall and winter, but Bay Head and Point Pleasant Beach won't disappoint during the hot-weather months
Honorable Mention: Spring Lake
Spring Lake is a perfect little resort town with a magnificent beach that features a non-commercial boardwalk. With two miles of gorgeous, sandy beach, Spring Lake is definitely up there in terms of best beaches in Ocean and Monmouth Counties.
